The Cragun House
The Historic Cragun House
The Cragun House, located at 404 West Main Street in Lebanon,
is home to the Boone County Historical Society. In 1988, the Cragun family gifted the home and contents to the BCHS.
Their wish being to show the community an image of how a
late 19th century home appeared.
With most of its original furnishings, as well as other donated items
of the period,
it is a living history museum.
Built in 1893 by Lebanon school superintendent and
newspaper publisher Strange Cragun,
the Queen Anne style home hosted many notable guests of the time. Vice President Charles Warren Fairbanks, James Whitcomb Riley and Indiana Governor Samuel Ralston were a few who
were welcomed into this elegant family home.
